                                                                              'See Green See Life-Save the Hornbills' (8th December 2013)

Hornbill cycle rally with the theme “See green see life-Save the hornbills” would be organized by Alaphra tourism, travel and tourism division of Alaphra group based in Dimapur, sponsored by department of tourism, government of Nagaland and supported by Nagaland Cycling Association (NCA).
Organizers would be providing SAG vehicles, rest stops along the way with food, water, snacks and restrooms and free bike maintenance. Safety cars to clear the way for the riders and an ambulance with medics for emergency would also be provided and participants wearing safety approved cycling helmet has been made mandatory.
The rally would have two categories 14 km route covering Kisama to Old DC Bungalow Kohima and 30 km route which would be flagged off from Kisama heritage village traversing through scenic mountain trail covering miles of valleys, fields, rivers and forests from Kisama-Kohima-secretariat-high court-IG stadium.
Hornbill cycle rally 2013 would be held on December 8 and the rally would be flagged off at 8 a.m. from Kisama heritage village. The organizers said there would not be any registration fee for the rally. The participants would also take part witness lucky draw, distribution of free cycling t-shirts and exclusive dinner party.

                                 National Dance Competition at Hornbill Festival



14 Nov 2013, Discover Nagaland: This year during the most celebrated event of Northeast India, Nagaland Fitness and Dance Academy (NAFDA) in partnership with the Government of Nagaland will host the first ever national dance competition at the Hornbill Festival. Named as “Footloose”, the competition will be held from 7th to 9th December at The Heritage (Old DC Bungalow) in Kohima, Nagaland. The total prize money for the competition is Rs. 2.9 lakhs. 
Nagaland Fitness and Dance Academy (NAFDA) was formed to promote & provide an opportunity for talented naga youths who have the passion & skills for dance, a platform to get employment as well as to provide a place where our people can come and enjoy healthy life through the various fitness classes available at the academy. NAFDA provides these classes with trained and experience faculty with state of the art equipments. 

The schedule for the National Hornbill Festival Dance Competition is as Follows:
1. Online registration starts from 10th Sept to 14th Nov, 2013.
2. Participants will have to send in their video CD or upload their video for audition from which a panel of experts will do the selection.
3. During the Hornbill festivals there will be 2 (two) elimination rounds before the grand finale.
4. There will be a separate category for both Solo and Group.
5. The prize money for solo will be 1st prize Rs. 70,000, 2nd prize Rs. 50,000 and for Group 1st Prize Rs.1, 00,000, 2nd prize Rs. 70,000.
6. Accommodation for out station participants will be provided.
7. Basic TA (2nd class train, bus fare or taxi fare) will be given to participant upon production of ticket.
8. Local transportation will be provided during the competition till the finale.
9. The show will be judged by a Panel of eminent dance personalities.

The competition is a part of the International Hornbill Festival and entry for the show will be through ticket system only. NAFDA will give 10% of the ticket sale proceed to Footprint Charity.

The Hornbill Festival is a celebration, held every year in the first week of December, in Nagaland - The Land of Festival, North-East India. Organized by the State Tourism and Art & Culture Departments, Hornbill Festival showcases a mélange of cultural displays under one roof. Hornbill Festival is held at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama which is about 12 km from Kohima. All the tribes of Nagaland take part in this festival. The aim of the festival is to revive and protect the rich culture of Nagaland and display its extravaganza and traditions.

                                     Hornbill motor rally and WWII peace rally



Discover Nagaland: Commemorating 50th anniversary of Nagaland statehood, the 7th edition of Hornbill Motor Rally as integral part of the mega celebrations will be held on December 3 and 4. 
The motor rally is organized by the Nagaland Adventure & Motor Sports Association (NAMSA) supported and sponsored by the government of Nagaland and JK Tyre respectively. Hornbill Motor Rally would be held under License from the Federation of Motor Sports Council of India (FMSCI).
The format for the motor rally, both four and two wheeler categories will be Time, Speed and Distance (TSD).
The rally will be flagged from IG Stadium, Kohima and the participants will traverse around 100 kilometers and finish at IG Stadium.
Documentation and scrutiny will be held on December 3 and on December 4 TSD rally and the prize distribution ceremony will be held.
This year there will be 2 (two) categories of competition-professional and novice. NAMSA office at 116 Duncan, Opposite Morung Express, Dimapur has started issuing entry forms and SR with November 26 as standard closing date and the late entry date as November 28.
WWII Peace Rally will also be organized by NAMSA and sponsored by the department of Tourism, government of Nagaland and JK Tyre as the sponsors of the trophies.
The WWII Peace Rally programme will be flagged off at 8 a.m. at War Cemetery, Kohima after a Wreath laying Ceremony and will culminate at WWII Museum, Naga Heritage village, Kisama.
The main objective of the peace rally was to promote motor sports, tourism and Nagaland as a tourist destination and peace.
This is also to promote the history of one of the fiercest battles that was fought during the WW-II and Kohima and Dimapur became the centre-stage for dominion among nations.
